OCTOBER - Illuminating Vids, Podcasts, & more...

I love to share what's getting me going of late, and these are the recent winners in my book..

Check out the links and let me know what you thought or what's getting you going lately!

• Dave Chapelle’s new Netflix special, The Age of Spin. Thank God he’s back. He’s my favorite comic and he knocked it out of the park with this one. I met him once at the Cheesecake Factory in Cincinnati’s Kenwood Mall. He was sitting alone on the patio and I went up to him and did the total fan thing - I couldn’t help myself. I thanked him for his comedy which cracked me wide open. He was super gracious.

• Max Brooks' interview with Terry Gross on NPR’s Fresh Air as he talks about doomsday, dyslexia and growing up with Mel Brooks and Anne Bancroft. I fell in love with Anne even more than I thought possible.

• On Being Podcast with Krista Tippet. The nature nerd Frannie Potts in me totally dug this episode with audio ecologist, Trent Gilliss, as he took me on an audio hike through the Hoh Valley rain forest.

• Great article in The Atlantic on comics having to water down their material to get gigs on college campuses (aka I’m not alone).

• Rediscovered one of my all-time favorite folk groups on YouTube: the Pennywhistlers. Their arrangement of the Macedonia folk tune Shto Mi e Milo is gorgeous.
